The ABC’s Sunday morning Insiders program went live recently at Canberra’s National Press Club, as part of this year’s Canberra Writers Festival. And it was a very enjoyable and lively evening. Hundreds of Canberra political junkies whose Sunday morning staple diet includes watching Insiders were able to hear the views of some top political journalists and cartoonists, who covered many events related to domestic and international politics. Regular Insiders host, David Speers, led the panel of Niki Savva, Samantha Maiden and Mark Kenny, while senior political photographer, Mike Bowers, and his political cartoonist colleagues, Fiona Katauskas and David Rowe, had the audience entertained, especially when they aired and discussed some of their more controversial cartoons. The evening not only allowed the audience a chance to see Insiders in action, but also ask questions of the panel.
