The undulating hills around the delightful NSW village, Millthorpe, in the Blayney Shire (on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people), will resonate this Easter with the sounds of opera. The former artistic director of Opera Australia and opera baritone, Lyndon Terracini, and his wife, Swiss soprano Noemi Nadelmann, are hosting the inaugural Handa Opera at the Millthorpe festival. Roughly three hours’ drive from Canberra and 20 minutes from Orange, National Trust-classified Millthorpe, includes many attractions: historic buildings, art galleries, gift and antiques shops, a museum, two hotels, cafes and a selection of accommodation options; and its restaurant choices include the widely-acclaimed and hatted, Tonic Restaurant. The nearby towns of Orange and Bathurst have much to offer too, including wineries, good shopping, art galleries, eateries, museums, and delightful homes and streetscapes.
